Ingredients

  • 4 bone‑in chicken thighs, skin on
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all‑purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 cup all‑purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 4 waffles, freshly cooked
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. In another bowl, beat eggs with buttermilk.
  3. Dredge chicken thighs in the seasoned flour mixture, dip in the buttermilk mixture, then coat again in flour for a double crust.
  4. Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C) and fry chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 8‑10 minutes per side; transfer to a paper‑towel‑lined plate.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, milk, and melted butter to form a smooth waffle batter.
  6. Preheat a waffle iron and cook batter until crisp and golden; set waffles aside.
  7. Arrange the waffles in a glass baking dish, top with the fried chicken pieces, and sprinkle with parsley and Parmesan.
  8. Drizzle honey generously over the chicken and waffles.
  9. Serve immediately while hot.
