Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • 4 slices ham
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix softened butter, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Spread the butter mixture evenly on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
  3. Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Layer ham and a generous amount of cheddar and mozzarella cheese on one slice of bread.
  5. Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
  6. Cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is melted, then flip and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes.
  7. Repeat with the remaining bread, ham, and cheese to make four sandwiches.
  8. Let the sandwiches rest for 1 minute before cutting into quarters and stacking on a wooden board.
  9. Serve with a side of tomato soup.
